Jordan Football Association (JFA) in partnership with FIFA, the Asian Football Development Project (AFDP), and Adidas launched a football donation campaign for boys and girls in the refugee camps and less advantaged areas of Jordan.
The first phase of the campaign was held on 15 May, at the Zaatari Refugee Camp, east of Mafraq Governorate, benefiting over 7000 boys and girls from the refugee community.
This donation program comes as part of the cooperation between JFA, the AFDP, FIFA, and Adidas, which saw FIFA and Adidas donate 150 footballs for each goal that was scored during the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which was hosted in Jordan from September 30 - October 21, 2016.
104 goals were scored during the U-17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan, resulting in a donation of over 15,000 Adidas footballs to be distributed across the Kingdom.
In addition to Syrian refugee camps, JFA and the AFDP will deliver the Adidas footballs to children in refugee host communities and marginalized cities and villages.
In addition to supporting refugees and children from the less advantaged communities, the donation will also promote the development of women’s football through its programs that use football as a tool for social development.
