Jordan WNT kicks off trainings in Spain
Jordan Women's National Team kicked off its trainings in Madrid, Spain, in the training camp that is being held in preparation for the AFC Women's Asian Cup and FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which jordan hosts in April.
The team held its first session on Wednesday, February 14, at the Atletico de Madrid training complex, with their first game to kick off against Madrid CFF on Thursday, February 15.
Two additional matches will be played against Spanish League top flight side Atletico de Madrid, on Wednesday, February 21, and against Rayo Vallecano on Thursday, February 22.
The training camp comes as part of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Jordan Football Association and La Liga, which includes a part dedicated to the development of the Women's Football scene in Jordan.
Jordan patiently awaits the start of the Women's Asian Cup on home soil next April, which is being hosted for the first time in the history of the country and the region. The championship also holds big importance, as it decides the five Asian teams that will book a qualification place at the FIFA Women's World Cup that France hosts in 2019.
Jordan heads group A at the Asian Cup, along with China, Thailand, and the Philippines. While a heavy-weight battle awaits Japan, Australia, South Korea, and Vietnam in group B.
Both group leaders and runner-ups qualify to the tournament's semi final round, while secure qualification to the FIFA Women's World Cup France 2019. While third place holders from each group play a playoff-match to decide the fifth and final World Cup qualification ticket.
