The championship also holds big importance, as it decides the five Asian teams that will book a qualification place at the FIFA Women's World Cup that France hosts in 2019. Jordan heads group A at the Asian Cup, along with China, Thailand, and the Philippines. While a heavy-weight battle awaits Japan, Australia, South Korea, and Vietnam in group B. Both group leaders and runner-ups qualify to the tournament's semi final round, while secure qualification to the FIFA Women's World Cup France 2019. While third place holders from each group play a playoff-match to decide the fifth and final World Cup qualification ticket.
