Mexico downs Jordan in Alanya Women's Cup
Jordan Women's National Team lost to Mexico 5-1 in their second match at the Alanya Women's International Friendly Cup, which the National Team participates in at Turkey, as part of the final preparations for the upcoming AFC Women's Asian Cup and World Cup qualifiers.
The first half saw a vicious battle between the two sides, Mexico scored first from a penalty kick that was awarded to them in the 25th minute. However, a lovely through ball from captain Stephanie Al Naber, managed to beat the Mexican backline, forcing the goalkeeper to step out of the area to clear it, then intercepted by Luna Al Masri who chipped it over the defenders and goalkeeper to make it one for all.
In the second half, the Jordanian Team retreated backwards and regressed in harmony, allowing the Mexican Team to control the game and keep ball possession. Katlyn Alicia and Veronica Coral managed to score two goals for Mexico after the hour mark. And Sandra Mayor scored a brace later on in the game, to bring the game to an end with a 5-1 win for Mexico.
Jordan takes on Latvia on Sunday, March 4, to decide the third place of the group. While plays its closing match on Tuesday, March 6, for the tournament's places deciding match.
