Jordan and Chinese Taipei draw ahead of AFC Women's Asian Cup kickoff
Jordan Women's National Team settled for a 1-1 draw with Chinese Taipei, in the friendly international that was held on Saturday, March 24, in conclusion of final preparations for the upcoming AFC Women's Asian Cup, which Jordan hosts from 6-20 April.
The match was held at the Amman International Stadium, where Jordan kicks off its campaign at the Asian Cup next month, by facing the Philippines in the opening game on April 6.
Shorooq Shathli scored the opener for the Nashmiyat in the 15th minute, following a brilliant combination that started from Maysa Jbarah, penetrating the defenders on the right side and sending a pass to captain Stephanie Al Naber, who assisted Shathli inside the penalty box, sending the ball into the back of the net.
The National Team took control of the game after the opener, and came close to double the lead trough Jbarah who sent a long-ranged shot, that went inches above the crossbar.
In the second half, the tempo of the game dropped in comparison to the first half, and Jbarah came closer to double the lead only 2 minutes after the restart, but the crossbar denied her from scoring. The visitors however, managed to steal the equalizer in the 58th minute, taking advantage of a header following a long ball that put Chi Ting one on one in front of goalkeeper Salma Ghazal.
Jordan pushed for another goal for the remainder of the game, and Jbarah once again was denied, this time by the Chinese Taipei goalkeeper, as the match finished all square in a 1-1 draw.
